Cranbrook Educational Community is seeking a Director for its Horizons Upward Bound (HUB) program who will provide leadership, innovation, oversight and direction that is consistent with the philosophy and purpose of HUB within Cranbrook Kingswood School. This position plans, coordinates and executes all HUB activities in consultation with appropriate Cranbrook officials, HUB staff, Department of Education officials and the community. Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree and ten years of educational leadership experience required. Preferred Qualifications: Teaching or counseling at the secondary school level; five years of secondary school leadership experience; demonstrated ability to blend the mission of TRIO and the mission of Cranbrook Schools; knowledge of U. S. Department of Education policies and procedures; knowledge and experience in advocating for the special populations represented in TRIO; knowledge in creating a budget; promotion of professional development of staff at all levels; demonstrated ability to work independently and to establish and maintain a high degree of personal departmental integrity and openness with students, faculty and staff; demonstrated skill in leadership, management, and supervision of personnel in an educational setting; demonstrated skill in working effectively with personnel conflicts and concerns; demonstrated ability as an effective communicator who will listen, is open to new ideas/suggestions and responds in a timely way to faculty, students and staff with response to questions and concerns; demonstrated ability to seek multiple ways in problem solving, an ability to deliver the “no” message when necessary; demonstrated ability to effectively organize time and complete diverse tasks; evidence of strong and clear commitment to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of secondary school students. Other Special Requirements: Adaptable to change both internally and externally; demonstrated ability to administer in a fair, thorough and thoughtful way; will support program values of diversity and holism; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to travel overnight for professional meetings and attend or manage evening and weekend events; knowledge of residential/boarding programs.
