News Media
Media members interested in shooting photographs on campus should contact Cranbrook’s public relations office to arrange a visit. We are happy to accommodate requests for event coverage, architectural photos and other arrangements. Freelance journalists interested in shooting on campus should have a letter of commitment from the publication for which they will be photographing and/or writing their article. All journalists and photographers must be accompanied by a representative of the Cranbrook public relations office throughout the duration of their stay on campus.

Cranbrook Schools students may not be photographed without prior consent of the public relations department. Due to privacy issues, the public relations representative reserves the right to restrict which students may or may not be photographed.

Commercial Use
Corporations interested in shooting at Cranbrook for commercial use (i.e., for print, digital or video advertisements) must contact the Cranbrook Special Events office at 248.645.3281. Commercial photo shoots will incur rental and set-up costs, which will vary according to location. All commercial crews must provide proof of proper insurance including a minimum of $1 million liability coverage. Each crew member also must agree to follow the instructions and guidelines given to them by Cranbrook Special Event staff members.

Personal Use
Visitors to Cranbrook are welcome to photograph public areas of this National Historic Landmark campus. We ask that visitors respect the posted signs indicating private, residential areas of campus and refrain from shooting photos in those areas. Photography inside Cranbrook Art Museum, Cranbrook House and Saarinen House may be restricted due to preservation issues. Flash photography is not allowed within those buildings.

Photos taken for personal use may not be used for any commercial purpose nor published in any media or format without written consent from Cranbrook Educational Community.

Archival Images
Cranbrook Archives offers thousands of historic and contemporary photographs, slides and digital images for media use. All archival photos or images must bear the proper photographer credit line or, if none is stated, read "Courtesy of Cranbrook Archives."
