Values

The following are the values that inform and guide the actions of Cranbrook Educational Community (“Cranbrook”), approved by the Cranbrook Board of Trustees in September of 2023:

  • Equity and Inclusion - We are committed to celebrating our differences, honoring our common humanity, and equitable and fair access for all. We reject bigotry in all its manifestations and believe that our differences in background and perspective make us stronger and better able to serve, welcome, and learn from our many audiences.

  • Excellence - Pursuing excellence in all that we do and with passion, maintaining the highest standards of achievement, performance, and integrity in all our activities. Cranbrook and its people will strive to be exceptional and to lead.

  • Innovation - Supporting innovation, creativity, and curiosity across our programs and in our people. Cranbrook will always seek innovative paradigms for teaching, creating, and engaging our constituents.

  • Collaboration - Maximizing the strength of our programs through partnerships on our campus and in the greater community, taking advantage of collaborative opportunities to enrich our relationships and the experiences we offer and have.

  • Stewardship and Service - Managing Cranbrook’s historic legacy and campus responsibly, and sustainably for the benefit of future generations. As George and Ellen Scripps Booth founded Cranbrook on a spirit of giving to others, we will share Cranbrook’s educational experiences with diverse audiences on our campus, in our alumni community and in local, national, and international arenas.

  • Wellbeing and Safety - We support the well-being of all constituents through all our operations as we strive to create and nurture life-long relationships. We commit to providing a safe and secure environment for work and learning while welcoming our many diverse audiences, including prohibiting all forms of bigotry, harassment, sexual assault, and violence.
